Let the Good Times Roll

Update: Adam, James and I spent most of the day day yesterday, last night and this morning in the hospital. James was admitted yesterday at approximately 11:45ish am. Diana aka grammy had taken him for a doc's appointment at 10:30 to check up on his congestion/breathing issues. His breathing was not good in the office so they gave him a breathing treatment like the ones Adam gives him here. After the treatment James' breathing did not improve so they decided to admit him. Adam and I drove the speed limit to get there from our respective schools. I had to drive speed limit cause there was a cop behind me most of the way. Once James was admitted he was weighed, given another breathing treatment, heel pricked and fed. He was supposed to get an iv but the nurses didn't want to do it so they didn't. We didn't want him to have one either so we were happy. He is still eating, just not what he normally does which is too much anyway. James later had to have a chest xray and a real blood draw. That was awful. It was a real needle in the crook of his elbow with a mini tourniquet tied around his arm. I cried. He did too but the phlebotomist held him after and he got quiet real quick. The phlebotomist remembered him from when he was born and was getting blood drawn for the jaundice. She was so impressed by how big he had gotten. Since she last saw him he has gotten less yellow and doubled in weight. After each procedure, James perked right up. He was flirting with nurses and visitors that came in. He caught a couple of quick naps here and there. The doc, my least favorite of the whole practice, came in and really didn't give us any real info. So, we spent the night. James went to sleep pretty well and probably would have slept thru the night but the nurses said that we had to wake him up and feed or they would have to put the iv in. So we tried to wake him up but he didn't want to eat. That wasn't fun. This morning the doc who was Adam's pediatrician was on call. He examined James, asked a lot of questions and came up with a game plan. Since all of James' test results were excellent, he doesn't have an "illness". But, the breathing issue has been going on for awhile. He believes that there is another culprit behind it. He thinks that possibly James is allergic to something, therefore causing lung junk/asthma. First I have to remove all candles from the house. Second, we are going to try a hypoallergenic formula. The doc thinks that maybe the allergy is allowing James to stay ill. We are going to try this. If it solves the problem, gravy. If not, we will try adjusting something else. The only issue is that this special formula is crazy expensive. Oh well, I hope this works. We should know in the next couple of days if it works. We continue breathing treatments every four hours. The daycare said that they would do it when he is there. Twice a day he gets another medicine. I think that is everything. I am still feeling not so good myself. Adam is still blowing his nose/sneezing too. I am planning on spending some of today and the weekend sanitizing the house. Pray that we can find the allergy culprit. Peace out.
